Yori
malsmith.net

Windows command shell with classic styling and Unix-inspired conveniences, including autocomplete.

Source discussion: Kitty 0.50

“I've been using Yori [1]. Not comparable at all to Kitty in terms of features, but a joy to use if you like a polished "Win2k feel" with only a handful of added unix-isms like decent autocomplete etc.”

“Seconded. Also very easy to set up. I’ve been running it for years, along with webhooks to kick off testing and website deployment jobs. I especially like the swagger browser that generate API calls for you to try in curl.”

Jenkins
jenkins.io

Self-hosted CI server; a CUDA-container builder values reliable local builds and lower costs.

Source discussion: Incident with Pull Requests, Git Operations and Issues

“Same for me, ssh access was intermittent, but at least I have reliable local builds when GitHub actions is out but access works. With AI running Jenkins is not that hard. I build large cuda containers so cost alone ruled out hosted builds for my usecase. There's a bit of update churn but nothing broke so far. I ran around 2000 builds last year.”

Stringman
neufangled.com

Open-source room-scale gripper robot suspended from ceiling cables; an inventive robotics rabbit hole.

Source discussion: Stringman, an $800 open-source room scale gripper robot

“I saw Stringman here a couple of weeks ago & it's been hard to not thing about it! I don't own though, so, seems unlikely I'd commit, as alas the walls are not a simple white I can easily patch & paint. But so cool!”

Free PostgreSQL internals guide; a commenter recommends starting with heap-only tuple updates.

Source discussion: The Internals of PostgreSQL

“If you are just skimming this doc, The HoT update path is the section I would jump to. Understand HoT and then read the zHeap implementation notes (also of TOAST) puts a good mental model of what postgres does and what it doesn't do.”
