A desktop diagram editor with precise alignment and automatic graph layouts.

Source discussion: TALA Is Open-Source

Out of all the tools I have ever used for making diagrams, it remains the one that is the most precise, good looking results, also supports auto-layout algorithms, and makes placement and aligning things easy

03

A code-first framework for building and deploying AI agents.

Source discussion: DaVinci Resolve 21.1

I used Google's Agent Development Kit to make a super simple agent outside of Resolve that I can use to say "take a 10s clip from file1.mp4 starting at 00:01:25 and a 20s clip from file2.mp4 starting at 00:02:00" then tell it to preview and render. Speeds things up.

Qwen3.8-27B
huggingface.co

A 27B vision-language model that runs locally with long context.

Source discussion: Benchmarking Qwen3.8 27B quantizations: 4-bit holds up, 1-bit collapses

I'm now running NVFP4 quantized both weight and cache on my RTX5090 and getting excellent results: 264k cache allocated for pool, 10k tok/s prompt processing, 200 tok/s generation for single stream, or 801 tok/s generation for 8 concurrent streams.

For the kinds of things I use a local model for (legal document review), it’s just spectacular. It also has good vision support. I’ve been using 27B more and more over DS4.

DaVinci Resolve 21.1
blackmagicdesign.com

A professional video editor adding agent integrations without a subscription model.

Source discussion: DaVinci Resolve 21.1

I've been using it for many years, and it's grown in power and functionality with every release. BMD has offered free upgrades to Pro users (with no subscription) for many years, which is refreshing given the current state of software licensing.
